Ultramarines – Traditionally Painted

We’ve recently finished painting an Ultramarine force. These are additional forces for a client of which we painted up a Dreadnought and some scout bikes. This batch included another scout bike (this one with a grenade launcher), a Devestator squad, a Razorback and a Storm Talon.

The Ultramarines were to match the color scheme of the client’s existing army. All the vehicles had some weathering and paint work scratches applied to them. The bike and Razorback had dirt applied to the wheels/tracks and all the vehicles had some soote brushed over engines and exhaust ports.

Finally each vehicle recieved some transfers which were applied by coating the area in Vallejo Decal Fix, applying the transfer to the area, then when dry appying Vallejo Decal Medium. This gives a seamless transition from transfer to the base material and ensures the transfer doesn’t ‘pop out’ or discolor which is normally a dead give away that it is a transfer. (here is a link from Vallejo which explains the process)

You can find some of the work in progress shots on our Facebook page.
