Undead Army for Age of Sigmar

Today’s commission features a diverse undead army for Warhammer Age of Sigmar painted to our Level 3 tabletop quality. This collection features some of the most iconic undead models in the Games Workshop range, from the mighty Nagash himself to a terrifying Forge World Mourngul.

Army Composition: Forces of Death

This commission included a well-rounded selection of undead forces:

  • Nagash, Supreme Lord of the Undead
  • Mourngul (Forge World)
  • 2 Morghast Harbingers
  • Winged Vampire Lord
  • Necromancer
  • 10 Direwolves

Each unit was painted following the Games Workshop studio color schemes, providing a cohesive look that matches official artwork while still allowing each unit type to maintain its distinctive aesthetic.

Ethereal Horrors

The Mourngul, one of Forge World’s most chilling sculpts, was rendered in ethereal whites and pale greens to capture its ghostly nature. These translucent colors help convey the otherworldly aspect of this terrifying predator, with subtle color transitions that suggest its partially materialized form.

The Morghasts received a striking purple armor treatment contrasted with ethereal, spectral wings. This combination creates a visually interesting balance between solid, physical armor and insubstantial, otherworldly elements – perfectly capturing the dual nature of these imposing guardians.

Creatures of Blood and Shadow

The direwolves were painted with brown fur textures, enhanced with ragged, bloodied flesh that tells the story of their violent nature. These details add character to the pack while making them appropriately intimidating on the battlefield.

The Necromancer and Vampire Lord were finished with a classic black and red color scheme, providing a strong visual contrast that makes these commander models stand out among their undead minions. The rich reds suggest their connection to blood magic, while the black elements emphasize their dark and sinister nature.

Nagash: Supreme Lord of the Undead

The centerpiece of this collection is undoubtedly Nagash, Supreme Lord of the Undead. This imposing model received special attention even at our Level 3 standard, with careful work on his bone structure, flowing robes, and magical elements. His distinctive color scheme helps him stand out as the undisputed master of this undead host.

Level 3 Tabletop Quality

This commission was completed to our Level 4 Tabletop standard, which provides an excellent balance of quality and value for gaming collections. This level includes:

  • Clean basecoats with smooth coverage
  • Basic highlighting on prominent features
  • Washes for depth and definition
  • Attention to key details that define each unit
  • Consistent basing across the entire army
  • Proper unit coherency through color coordination

The result is a visually cohesive force that looks impressive on the gaming table while remaining affordable for larger army commissions.

Ready for Battle

The entire collection is based on a consistent theme of grey gravel terrain with sparse yellow grass, unifying the disparate elements into a cohesive force ready for the battlefield. The neutral bases help the models’ distinctive color schemes stand out while providing a realistic environment for them to haunt.

This undead army is now ready to spread fear and death across the Mortal Realms! Whether summoning endless minions with Nagash, hunting isolated prey with the Mourngul, or charging into battle with a pack of bloodthirsty direwolves, this force offers numerous tactical options for its new owner.

If you’re interested in commissioning your own Age of Sigmar army at any of our quality levels, don’t hesitate to reach out. Our Level 3 Tabletop standard offers an excellent option for creating impressive armies at a reasonable price point.
