This blog post is the next in a series of posts regarding Lord of the Rings miniature commission. In this latest batch, we were tasked with painting Mirkwood Elves, including infantry and the key character Thranduil.
One of the key challenges of this project was that the client requested different painting levels for the miniatures. The infantry were painted to a level 1 or level 2 quality, which meant that they were less detailed than the previous batch we worked on. This allowed us to focus on speed and efficiency, while still maintaining a good level of quality.
Thranduil, on the other hand, was painted to a level 4 quality, which is a higher level of detail and realism. We spent extra time carefully painting his armor and cloak, as well as using a variety of techniques to create a sense of depth and texture on his miniature.
Despite the different painting levels, we were able to create a cohesive and consistent look across the entire batch of miniatures. The Mirkwood Elves blended in seamlessly with the client’s existing army, and Thranduil was a true standout piece that really captured the character’s personality and regal bearing.
