Another commission that got finished and then quietly sat in the “to post” pile, this one’s been done since March, and it’s well overdue its spot on the site. Say hello to Angron, Daemon Primarch of Khorne, painted to our top-tier Level 5 quality with full non-metallic metal work throughout.
The World Eater, Ascended
Angron was never a Primarch who did anything by halves, and even before he was dragged into the Warp and remade as a Daemon Prince, he was already the most furious of his brothers. This kit shows him fully ascended, clawed and hooved, wrapped in barbed black wings, with his paired weapons, the chainaxe Spinegrinder and the daemon blade Samniarius, bound at his wrists by chain – a nod back to his gladiator days on Nuceria. He’s built here in the Armour of Mars, and look like something stepping out of hell or in a warzone.
Level 5 Quality and the NMM Armour
Level 5 is our display centrepiece tier, where every surface gets the full treatment rather than just the pieces that catch the eye. For a model this size, that means the whole suit of armour, breastplate, pauldrons, greaves, the etched Khornate icons worked into the metal, is built up entirely in non-metallic metal. No metallic paints at all, just layered warm highlights and deep shadows to trick the eye into seeing polished brass and gold catching the light. It’s the part of a Level 5 commission I enjoy most, because at that point I’m not really painting a miniature anymore, I’m chasing light and shadow the same way you would on canvas.
A Molten Nuceria Base
The base being a war torn scorched ground, ember-lit rubble, and a lit flame effect built up in yellows and oranges that throws its own glow back up into the model. It’s a small addition, but it ties the whole piece together and gives the display base something to say on its own.
