Whats on the painting table

Very quick update this week. Its been madness at the moment, though a lot of things are being painted and getting off the holding shelves, there is still a stack more miniatures to be completed this month.

Crimson Fist
Showcase

Warhammer 40k 25th Anniversary Model

It’s not often that I actually get time to paint something for myself let alone anything for my armies. One of the downsides of commission painting is that you often don’t feel like painting when it comes to your own miniatures. In fact i’ve been playing a lot of Fantasy Flight Games X-Wing as its a enjoyable game but everything is already painted (pretty nicely for machine painting).

Pedro Kantor
Showcase

Chapter Master Pedro Kantor of the Crimson Fists

Some more Crimson Fists to paint, this time it’s Pedro Kantor. I must admit that i’m starting to enjoy painting the dark blues and the off set crimson colours. Might have to swap my Ultramarines over to the Crimson Fists (I still have that option as I haven’t started painting any of my 40k armies).

Vladimir Tzepesci
Showcase

Vladimir Tzepesci, Great Prince of Umbrey

Vladimir is the first off the line of an upcoming Warmachine Khador army. The client is just beginning their Khador army and wants the whole army painted to Display quality (its going to look spectacular). The basic theme of the army will be to follow the Khador red colours of the studio and to have all the miniatures based on snow covered ground.

Tau Hammerhead
Showcase

Tau Hammerhead

Just completed a Tau hammerhead painted to our Standard Quality for our Facebook gift voucher winner. The client wanted them painted to a custom colour scheme of greys with the Tau camouflage. The Sept writing had to be a light green colour and the engines and weaponry to be a […]

Dungeonquest
Showcase

DungeonQuest Board Game

I’ve always loved Fantasy Flight games and in fact it is how I actually returned to the wargaming and miniature painting hobby. One of their first games that I got was Dungeon Quest (which was originally a Games Workshop game). After a 15 year hiatus from the miniature world, these were the first miniatures I painted and I must admit that i completely ruined them (yes I did strip later and repainted them after I developed some painting skills).

Dryad Reaper Miniatures
Showcase

Dryad – Reaper Miniatures

Not having painted a Reaper miniature for such a very long time (almost 20 years) I have seen they have come a long way with their dynamic poses and the detail of their miniatures. A client wanted to have the Dryad painted up to a High Quality.

Weekly Updates

Whats on the painting table

Well lots of painting has been going on in the past week. We had completed painting some Dungeon Quest miniatures, a Khador miniature as well as a Dryad – watch out for these posts this week. Here is what we’re currently working on.

Ultramarine Drop Pod
Showcase

Ultramarine Drop Pod

A nice and simple commission. The old faithful Space Marine drop pod. I have done so many of these that the painting time has become a very quick. Originally I started painting Drop Pods (in fact all vehicles) with a paint brush and using weathering powders from Secret Weapon for soot and blast markings. Now days I’ve upgraded wot the trust airbrush. The Airbrush techniques are not necessarily better then using weathering powders for weathering, but it is a lot quicker.
